The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
  The island of Maui in Maui County

* Until 1230 AM HST.

* At 932 PM HST, radar indicated locally heavy rain over East Maui, 
  from Haiku to Hana to Kaupo, which includes the area upslope of 
  the Kaupakalua Dam. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches 
  per hour and area streams are on the rise. If the heavy rain 
  persists, a Flash Flood Warning may eventually be needed.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  Kipahulu, Keanae, Kula, Nahiku, Kaupo, Makawao, Pukalani, Keokea, 
  Huelo, Haliimaile, Haiku-Pauwela, Hana, Pauwela, Paia, Haleakala 
  National Park, Wailua, Kailua, Hamoa and Hookipa Beach Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone 
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due 
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on 
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1230 AM HST if flooding 
persists.
