The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood advisory for...
  The island of Kauai in Kauai County

* Until 530 PM HST.

* At 230 PM HST, radar and satellite loops showed a broad band of 
  locally heavy showers spreading over Kauai from the southeast. 
  Radars show rain falling at up to an inch per hour.

* Locations in the advisory include the entire island of Kauai.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 530 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for Kauai, Niihau and Oahu.
