The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood advisory for...
  The island of Maui in Maui County

* Until 1130 AM HST.

* At 833 AM HST, radar indicated a slow moving line of very heavy 
  thundershowers extending from the eastern tip of Molokai, across 
  the Auau Channel. This line is moving ashore over west Maui with 
  rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour detected in the heaviest 
  downpours. This will lead to ponding in low-lying and poor 
  drainage areas.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  Kapalua, Honokohau, Maalaea, Kahakuloa, Waihee, Waikapu, Kaanapali,
  Lahaina, Wailuku, Napili-Honokowai, Waiehu and Olowalu.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1130 AM HST if heavy
rain persists.
