The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood advisory for...
  The island of Maui in Maui County

* Until noon HST.

* At 856 AM HST, radar showed bands of moderate to heavy rainfall 
  continuing to move over east Maui from the southeast. Rainfall 
  intensities have eased over the past hour but streams continue to 
  flow at elevated levels along the windward slopes of Haleakala.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  Huelo, Pauwela, Paia, Keanae, Nahiku, Hana, Kaupo and Kula.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

This advisory replaces the Flash Flood Warning that was in effect 
and may need to be extended beyond noon HST if heavy rain persists.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for Maui County through 
tonight.
