The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood advisory for...
  The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* Until 230 AM HST

* At 1137 PM HST, radar indicated very heavy rain over the leeward 
  Kohala district, from near Puako to Mahukona, with some rain 
  spreading to windward north Kohala. The rain was nearly 
  stationary, with rainfall rates between two and three inches per 
  hour in the heaviest showers. 

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  Kapaau, Pololu Valley, Kohala Ranch, Hawi, Halaula, Puako,
  Kawaihae, Kamuela, and Mahukona.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 230 AM HST if heavy rain
persists.
