...SURGES POSSIBLE IN ALL NORTH FACING HARBORS...

A LARGE AND LONG PERIOD NORTH SWELL IS FORECAST TO MOVE INTO THE
ISLAND CHAIN THIS AFTERNOON. THIS SWELL WITH A 14 TO 15 SECOND
PERIOD COULD PRODUCE MODERATE SURGES IN ALL NORTH FACING HARBORS
INCLUDING HALEIWA BOAT HARBOR...HILO HARBOR AND KAHULUI HARBOR.
THIS SWELL ALSO MAY PRODUCE LARGE BREAKING WAVES NEAR CHANNEL AND
HARBOR ENTRANCES. MARINERS USING THESE HARBORS SHOULD EXERCISE
CAUTION WHEN ENTERING OR LEAVING PORT AND WHEN MOORING OR
LAUNCHING VESSELS. THE SWELL IS EXPECTED TO PEAK TONIGHT INTO
THANKSGIVING DAY...FOLLOWED BY A GRADUAL DECLINE THURSDAY NIGHT
AND FRIDAY.
